Quotes, mileage and fixed assets
Quote work before invoicing
Add itemised prices and GST, record when a quote is sent, accepted or declined, then convert an accepted quote into a draft invoice. Quotes stay separate from recognised invoice income in accountant exports.
Keep a journey log
Record the journey date, vehicle, business reason, distance, optional odometer readings, IRD tier and the exact kilometre rate used. MintStint includes the published 2025–26 rates as defaults, but annual rates and the 14,000 km tier boundary must be checked.
Assets and depreciation
Keep asset number, cost, GST, available-for-use date, business-use percentage, depreciation method and IRD rate. Save annual DV or SL estimates, including an optional 20% Investment Boost estimate for eligible new assets first available from 22 May 2025.
Review before filing
Rates, Investment Boost eligibility, private-use allocation, disposal recovery and low-value asset treatment can change the tax result. Estimates are labelled in the accountant export so your accountant can confirm them before filing.
